A new AI function has appeared in WhatsApp

WhatsApp has begun testing an innovative artificial intelligence-based function that will significantly simplify the lives of messenger users. The new feature automatically creates brief summaries of unread messages in personal chats, groups, and channels, reports 9to5Mac.
The function, designed to save users from having to scroll through long conversations, is currently only available to a limited number of beta testers on the Android platform.
To use the AI summaries, users need to activate the Private Processing function, which ensures request processing in a secure environment. After that, when a significant number of unread messages accumulate, instead of the standard notification, a button with a Meta AI label will appear, which when pressed will generate a brief summary of the conversation.
The developers particularly emphasize the priority of confidentiality when using the new function. The content of messages is not saved and is not linked to the user's account. Processing takes place in an isolated cloud environment, and the finished summaries are automatically deleted after viewing. In chats with Advanced Privacy activated, the function is automatically disabled, excluding any interaction with AI even with end-to-end encryption.
Currently, the function is in the testing stage and is only available to a limited number of Android users through the beta version of the application. When the new feature will become available to a wider audience, whether it will appear on iOS, and which languages and regions will be supported remains unknown.
