Hikmet Hajiyev: The President's open dialogue with journalists is key to fighting disinformation

The open dialogue of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with representatives of world media is an essential tool in the fight against disinformation against the country.

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to Report, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, told journalists on the sidelines of the III Shusha Global Media Forum.

"The head of state openly answered questions from journalists from more than 50 countries around the world for two and a half hours. Such an open dialogue is one of the most important tools for breaking through the front of disinformation against Azerbaijan and conveying the truth to the international community," he said.

He also emphasized the significant role of Azerbaijani media in this process. According to him, Azerbaijani media, acting in the interests of the country's national security, serve as a shield against information campaigns and convey the objective truth about Azerbaijan to the international community.

"Today, the indicators of our media sphere in the field of content creation and production have significantly increased. This applies not only to Azerbaijani-language but also foreign-language content. Recently, fact-checking has also been increasingly used in our media. In addition, the mechanisms for identifying and exposing facts of disinformation in government agencies have been significantly strengthened. However, this is an endless struggle, and we must constantly be aware of all significant issues," said Hajiyev.
