Hikmet Hajiyev: The Global Media Forum is organized in Shusha for a reason

Shusha has a special value for the Azerbaijani people, and organizing the Global Media Forum in this historic city, which also survived occupation, has special significance.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev at the III Shusha Global Media Forum.

"For three consecutive years, the Global Media Forum has been held in the beautiful city of Shusha. Why this particular city? Shusha, in a sense, is a place of inspiration for the creativity of the Azerbaijani people. And many Azerbaijani thinkers, philosophers, writers, including journalists, were born in this city, and they created in this city. Therefore, following this tradition, we would like to bring back the inspiring singing to the city of Shusha," he said.

The Presidential Assistant reminded that the forum traditionally brings together guests from various countries, including representatives of media and academic circles. According to Hajiyev, another important factor is that Shusha experienced war and occupation, which helps to widely highlight the post-conflict situation as well.

"Unfortunately, many fakes were spread about the city of Shusha, all of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. For example, the Khojaly genocide was not properly covered in international media. Only Azerbaijani media conveyed the whole truth," he said.

Hajiyev noted that by organizing the forum in Shusha, Azerbaijan is trying to create an inspiring and creative environment and atmosphere in which new thoughts about the problems we face can be proposed and recommended.
