Gadzhiev: Denying AI is like fighting windmills

Resistance to technologies and innovations resembles the struggle against the ideas of Copernicus or Giordano Bruno.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev during the III Shusha Global Media Forum.
"Today's Shusha Global Media Forum is dedicated to artificial intelligence. Each year we try to choose the most important and relevant topics. Today, there are various discussions around artificial intelligence. Is it a threat or an opportunity? And I am not calling for a fight against technologies here," said Hajiyev.
In his opinion, the struggle against technologies, innovation, and novelty is comparable to opposing the ideas of Giordano Bruno or Copernicus.
"You see, and new generations will criticize us for this. They will also perceive this as a fight against the thoughts of Giordano Bruno and other thinkers - like tilting at windmills. At the same time, future generations will reproach us for becoming the cause of a concept that cannot be controlled and that creates uncertainty," said Hajiyev.
He emphasized that artificial intelligence "certainly changes a lot": including our attitude toward religious beliefs and our views.
"The truth has changed. Truth is indeed a rare and valuable asset that is now also under threat," he noted.
