The Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Betsy Berns Korn, and the CEO of the Conference, William Daroff, sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
As reported by AZERTAC, the message states:
"Dear Mr. President.
On behalf of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and the Jewish community of America, we extend to You and the people of Azerbaijan our most sincere congratulations on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day.
As the 108th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is being celebrated, we highly appreciate the significance of this historic milestone and the enduring legacy of parliamentary governance, equality, and inclusiveness that it established. The fact that a Jewish representative was also present in the republic's first parliament in 1918 is a testament to Azerbaijan's long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
Our delegation, consisting of American Jewish leaders, had the honor of visiting Azerbaijan in February of this year, and we witnessed the values of transparency, pluralism, and mutual respect that distinguish Your country. We left Azerbaijan deeply impressed by the country's long-standing tradition of religious tolerance, ancient history, and rich cultural heritage, as well as the kindness and hospitality we experienced throughout our visit.
Mr. President, on the occasion of this significant national holiday, we ask You to accept our most sincere wishes for the continued prosperity, security, and success of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its people. We look forward to further strengthening mutual understanding, friendly ties, and cooperation between our communities in the future."
Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma also congratulated President Ilham Aliyev. In his letter, it is noted:
"Dear Ilham Heydar oglu.
I heartily congratulate You and, through You, the entire people of Azerbaijan on Independence Day.
I have visited Azerbaijan multiple times - this blessed land. I heard about the heroes of Your courageous people who fought for independence from my true friend, Your unforgettable father Heydar Aliyev. Therefore, Azerbaijan's independence is not just a word to me. I know that the Ukrainian people also perceive Azerbaijan not only as a friend but also as an example of national will that made it possible to reclaim lost territories and restore territorial integrity. You have achieved this, and we still have this ahead of us. This creates a special historical bond between our two peoples.
I hope that the people of Azerbaijan also feel this and understand who their true friend is.
I ask You to accept the most sincere wishes for the development and prosperity of Your beautiful Homeland."
In the letter from the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, addressed to the head of the Azerbaijani state, it states:
