The VII summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) was held in Baku on October 15, reaffirming the commitment of the participating states to multilateral cooperation, connectivity, peace and security in Asia.

As the newspaper "Caspiy" writes, the international community once again emphasized Azerbaijan's significant contribution to global cooperation and its extensive experience as a recognized leader.

The VII CICA summit became a major international event aimed at strengthening stability and deepening multilateral cooperation in the Eurasian space. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan under the motto "A Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalization and Sustainable Growth in Asia."

Key objectives of the summit

The summit's agenda consisted of several fundamental objectives, the main one being the reduction of international tensions and the restoration of trust between participating states against the backdrop of protracted conflicts and the breakdown of old diplomatic channels.

One of the priority objectives was the alignment of logistical strategies of Asian countries, the expansion of cross-border routes (including the Middle Corridor) and the diversification of supply chains.

CICA country leaders set the goal of developing digital cooperation, implementing technological innovations and artificial intelligence, as well as jointly strengthening information and cybersecurity.

Issues of overcoming environmental risks, adapting economies to climate change, as well as food and energy security also occupied an important place on the agenda.

We are against double standards

"In 1993, the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions demanding the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories, but they remained on paper for 30 years," President Ilham Aliyev said in his speech at the forum, emphasizing that the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, established in 1992 to resolve this issue, were imitative in nature.

However, the OSCE not only did not insist on the implementation of the adopted resolutions but also encouraged the aggressor — Armenia. As the head of our state stated, "if sanctions had been imposed on Armenia in a timely manner for the occupation, genocide and ethnic cleansings, Azerbaijan would not have had to break the backbone of Armenian fascism on the battlefield." As the President said, as long as mechanisms ensuring the implementation of decisions and resolutions of the UN Security Council and other international organizations are not developed, wars and conflicts will continue.
