The poetess and screenwriter Alla Akhundova has passed away
Laureate of the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR, Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR, screenwriter, poetess, and translator Alla Akhundova has passed away.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by Abuzar Bagirov, chairman of the Moscow branch of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that Alla Akhundova was born in 1939 in Moscow. In 1964, she graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute, and in 1967 - from the screenwriting department of the Higher Courses for Directors and Screenwriters. In 1970, she was awarded the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR, and in 1988 - the honorary title of Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR. Since 2003, she was also a personal pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Alla Akhundova authored the screenplays for the films "Bread in Equal Shares" and "An Apple Like an Apple." She also translated works of renowned Azerbaijani writers and poets into Russian.
The well-known Russian literary critic of the 1970s, Stanislav Lesnovsky, called A. Akhundova one of the three main representatives of contemporary women's poetry in the USSR, comparing them with its principal "pillars."
