Zelensky: US wants the war in Ukraine to end by summer
The USA wants to end the war in Ukraine by summer - before June and is pushing a clear negotiation timeline.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing Ukrainian media, this was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Why specifically before this summer? We understand that internal issues in the USA have influence and will certainly become even more relevant for them. For the first time, the parties discussed that the most difficult issues may likely be brought to a trilateral meeting of leaders. But this requires some preparatory elements. It is important that discussion of such a format is present in the dialogue," he said.
According to him, Ukraine confirmed a meeting with the Russian delegation in the USA in a week. The meeting proposed by the American side will likely take place in Miami.
Zelensky noted that the USA confirmed their participation in ceasefire monitoring.
"The military held a conversation and understand how – in case politicians make a decision to end the war – the ceasefire monitoring by Ukraine, Russia, and monitoring by the USA will technically occur. That is, the USA confirms its participation. Here regarding Europe – this does not mean they will not be part of this process," he said.
