US calls on its citizens to urgently leave Iran
The US State Department has called on American citizens to immediately leave Iran, recommending land routes through Armenia or Turkey for departure.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this is stated in an emergency announcement on the department's website.
The warning notes that having an American passport may be grounds for detention by Iranian authorities. Citizens are also advised to expect internet disruptions and plan alternative communication methods in advance.
"US citizens should expect further internet disruptions, plan alternative communication methods, and, if safe, consider leaving Iran by land to Armenia or Turkey," the State Department message says.
On January 12, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that US President Donald Trump would not be afraid to use the power of the American army against Iran.
