The American 9th Air Force begins multi-day Agile Spartan military air exercises to test combat readiness in the Middle East.

This was reported by the U.S. Air Force Central Command (AFCENT) on its official website.

"The exercises are designed to demonstrate the ability to deploy, disperse and conduct air combat operations throughout the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility," the statement said.

It is noted that the command will test the capabilities of using Agile Combat Employment (ACE) tactics, expanding the number of locations from which aircraft can perform combat missions if necessary.

The exercises will practice operations on dispersing aircraft and personnel, flexible response to various situations, logistics support, and will also test the command and control system.

At the moment, the United States has deployed an air wing (regiment) consisting of three F-15E fighter squadrons, an F-16 fighter squadron and an A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft squadron, as well as military transport aircraft and tanker aircraft at air bases in the Middle East.
