Under a British university, 317 skeletons and a temple were found

Archaeologists in Great Britain have made a truly historic discovery. On the territory of the University of Gloucestershire, right under the modern campus buildings, the remains of 317 people were found, as well as ruins of an ancient temple, presumably from the medieval period.
The work was carried out by a group of specialists from Cotswold Archaeology commissioned by the university. According to researchers, beneath the ground were foundations of St. Aldate's Church, built in the Middle Ages and destroyed in the 17th century. Archaeologists excavated the remains of limestone and brick walls, as well as 83 crypts.
💀 Who are these people?
Most of the remains found date back to the Medieval era. Surprisingly, approximately half of the bodies were buried in stone crypts, which may indicate they belonged to the wealthy class of society or clergy.
"This discovery sheds light on the life and death of people who lived in this area hundreds of years ago," noted the excavation participants.
The discovery was officially announced on April 11. Experts are now analyzing the remains to determine age, gender, diseases, and possibly establish the social status of those buried.
