American President Donald Trump believes that the United States will be able to carry out a crewed flight to Mars "very soon," BAKU.WS reports, citing TASS.

"We're going to Mars very soon," he said, speaking in the American capital on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. "I think we'll reach the Moon and keep moving forward. And then we'll go to Mars," the American leader added.

Trump recalled that at the initiative of his administration during his first term as president, the U.S. Space Force was created. "Some people smirked, they thought it was stupid. And now they realize it's one of the most important things we've done," he noted. "We were losing to China and Russia in space, and now we're ahead of them by giant leaps," Trump asserted.

The head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Jared Isaacman, stated in May that his agency intends to deploy an American inhabited station on the Moon by 2032. NASA representatives noted that on the Moon they expect to test technologies that will eventually enable a crewed flight to Mars. The agency suggested that it could be organized by 2040.
