Trump confirmed that he invited Putin to the "Peace Council"
US President Donald Trump confirmed that he sent an invitation to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to join the "Peace Council" for resolving the situation in the Gaza Strip.
This was reported by Reuters news agency.
"He was invited," the agency quotes the American leader, who addressed the relevant question during a conversation with journalists.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Putin received an offer to join the "Peace Council" on Gaza and this possibility is being studied.
On January 16, Trump announced the formation of a "Peace Council" for the Gaza Strip. Its creation is part of his peace plan for Gaza along with the deployment of international forces. The following day, the White House revealed the council's composition. It includes, in particular, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Each member of the Executive Council will oversee a specific area for stabilization and long-term success of Gaza, including "strengthening governance capacity, regional relations, reconstruction, attracting investments, large-scale financing and capital mobilization."
