Trump called for the evacuation of foreign citizens from Iran
US President Donald Trump has called on American citizens and residents of allied countries to immediately leave the territory of Iran.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to CNN, the statement was made on January 13 during his visit to the Ford automobile plant in Detroit, where the White House head was communicating with workers and press representatives.
"I would say it's not a bad idea to leave [Iran]," Trump said, answering journalists' questions about recommendations for American citizens in the Islamic republic.
The American leader also touched on the topic of numerous casualties during anti-government demonstrations in Iran. Although Trump refrained from voicing specific figures, he made it clear that there were significant losses among the civilian population.
Responding to a question about the nature of the promised support to Iranian demonstrators, Trump noted: "You'll have to find out for yourselves." Thus, he left room for interpretation of his previous statement that "help is already on the way."
Earlier that day, Trump urged protesters in Iran to seize government institutions. The US President also announced the suspension of all diplomatic contacts with the Iranian leadership "until the senseless killing of protesters stops."
