The US administration, including representatives of the Pentagon and the intelligence community, is preparing for a possible resumption of strikes on Iran within the next three days.
This was reported by CBS television network citing sources.
According to them, some US military personnel and intelligence officials have canceled plans for the three-day weekend marking Memorial Day, observed in the US on May 25, 2026, amid expectations of possible strikes.
It is noted that Pentagon and intelligence officials have also begun updating personnel rosters at American facilities abroad. This is linked to the reduction of the US presence in the Middle East and concerns about a possible response from Iran.
The television network emphasizes that as of Friday evening, no final decision on launching new strikes had been made.
Earlier, the Axios portal reported that US President Donald Trump is leaning toward resuming strikes on Iran amid frustration with the progress of negotiations. According to sources, the American leader was briefed on the state of the negotiating process and possible scenarios in the event of their collapse.

US President Donald Trump is leaning toward launching new strikes on Iran amid frustration with the progress of negotiations.
This was reported by the Axios portal citing sources.
According to them, on Friday morning the American leader held a meeting with the participation of US Vice President JD Vance, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and other administration officials. During the meeting, Trump was briefed on the progress of negotiations and possible scenarios in the event of their failure.
As the portal's source noted, in recent days the US president "has become increasingly frustrated with the progress of negotiations."
According to Axios, during a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, Trump expressed willingness to "give diplomacy one more chance," but by Thursday evening was leaning toward ordering a strike.
"A source close to Trump said the president had mentioned the possibility of a final, 'decisive' major military operation, after which he could declare victory and end the war," the portal writes.
According to Axios sources, Trump is "seriously considering the possibility of launching new strikes," which could rule out the chance of a last-minute diplomatic breakthrough.
