The famous cat Hachiko from Makhachkala, who lived for 7 years on his owner's grave, has died

The ginger cat who became famous for his incredible devotion has passed away - for almost seven years, he never left his owner's grave at the Makhachkala cemetery. For his extraordinary loyalty, volunteers nicknamed the animal Hachiko, drawing a parallel with the well-known story of the devoted dog from Japan.
Life at the cemetery seriously undermined the four-legged guardian's health. Several months ago, volunteers who regularly fed the cat noticed a critical deterioration in his condition - the animal had almost lost the ability to move.
After the story of the faithful pet gained publicity online, Hachiko was transported to St. Petersburg for treatment. The cat was placed in temporary care with the prospect of eventually being rehomed with a new family. Despite the fact that the latest medical indicators showed positive dynamics, the animal could not be saved.
As reported on the page of the volunteer organization "Whiskered-Striped," the ashes of ginger Hachiko will be returned to Dagestan for burial at his owner's grave.
"Hachiko very much wanted to remain next to his human who had passed to another world, and his will and desire will be fulfilled," the volunteers noted.
