The artist found a bottle with a message left in the lighthouse wall more than 120 years ago

An amazing discovery was made at the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse in Tasmania - a bottle with a mysterious message written more than a century ago. This was reported by The Guardian.

The incredible discovery was made by Tasmanian artist Brian Burford, who was conducting routine maintenance on the lighthouse, which is listed as a cultural heritage site. Working with a lantern in the upper room of the lighthouse, where the lens and lighting mechanism are located, Burford was removing rust and corrosion. Unexpectedly, while reaching his hand into a wall cavity, he noticed a mysterious gleam.

The intrigued artist extracted an antique glass bottle with a message preserved from the beginning of the last century from the niche. The bottle was securely sealed with a cork covered with a protective layer of bitumen. Excited by his find, Burford contacted specialists from the Tasmanian Museum, who extracted the historic letter with jeweler's precision. Deciphering the document took several days of painstaking work. Eventually, it was discovered that on two sheets, an unknown author detailed the process of modernizing the lighthouse, which was carried out in 1903.

Soon, this unique message from the past is planned to be presented to the general public as part of a museum exhibition.
