Scientists have created a tattoo for detecting substances mixed into drinks

Scientists from South Korea have developed a temporary tattoo that can prevent drugs from being slipped into drinks, reports Express.

"The sticker, similar to a tattoo, detects the presence of gamma-hydroxybutyrate - a fast-acting nervous system depressant that is often used in sexual assault," the publication states.

A person can dip their finger in a drink, then apply a drop to the tattoo. If even a small amount of the drug was mixed in, the sticker will turn red. In its normal state, it is yellow.

The tattoo retains its new color for at least a month, which will serve as evidence of drink tampering. At the same time, its production does not require expensive technologies.

South Korean researchers hope that soon the tattoo will become inexpensive and will be able to protect the life and health of nightclub visitors.
