Poisonous substances found in popular tea brands in Russia

Rospotrebnadzor seized over one hundred tons of Greenfield, Tess, and "Beseda" tea brands, in which pesticides were found. Dangerous substances were also identified in products of brands "Golden Cup," "Three Friendly Elephants," "Cities of Russia," Easrford, TeaTale, and several others, reports BFM-Novosibirsk.
More than 20 health-hazardous compounds were found in tea samples, including acetamiprid, bifenthrin, dinotefuran, difenoconazole, carbendazim, and lambda-cyhalothrin.
As retailers clarify, samples for analysis were taken at the end of August, and mandatory labeling of tea products came into effect on September 1. Manufacturers tried to achieve a postponement of this decision, warning about possible supply disruptions. Nevertheless, according to the CPRT (the "Honest Mark" system), sales of unlabeled tea may continue for several more months.
From the same day, coffee, instant drinks, certain confectionery products, sports supplements, and toys are also subject to mandatory labeling.
