In Moscow, at the end of the New Year holidays, the first 20-degree frosts are possible. Meteorologists warn of a sharp increase in cold temperatures and the return of a true Russian winter.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Telegram channel of the leading specialist of the "Phobos" weather center Evgeny Tishkovets, by the end of the year, winter has fully restored its status according to all meteorological and hydrological parameters. Already now, frost is felt in the capital - about −6°, while the last day of the outgoing year will be the coldest in December.

According to the meteorologist, on January 1, with the rise in atmospheric pressure in Moscow, it will become sunny, there will be less precipitation, and the air temperature during the day will drop to about −10°. The peak of the cold snap is expected on the night of January 2, when due to the anticyclone, the temperature in the metropolis will be −12°…−15°, and in some areas of the region, it may drop to −15°…−20°.

In the following days, January 3 and 4, snow will continue, but less intensively, and the frost will temporarily weaken to −1°…−6°. Then the cold will begin to increase again, and by Christmas, the thermometer readings will drop to −7°…−12°.

Evgeny Tishkovets also noted that in the final weekend of the New Year holidays, the weather will improve, however, it is during this period that the first 20-degree frosts of the season may hit, which he called "Fedoseev's".
