Media: Pashinyan changes course: rapprochement with Russia and postponement of the Euro-referendum

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is taking steps to improve relations with Russia amid the strengthening of the latter's position. This has led to the postponement of the "Euro-referendum" project by two months and the adoption of measures to restore inter-agency ties with Moscow.
According to BAKU.WS with reference to "Graparak," the Russian side is cautious about Pashinyan's new initiatives. The visit of Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko, initially planned for the end of February, has been postponed to June 5-6. This decision is associated with Moscow's desire to verify the sincerity of the Armenian leadership's intentions and determine further cooperation strategy.
The Kremlin is closely monitoring Pashinyan's actions, particularly expecting his participation in the ceremonial events on Red Square on May 9. Government sources are confident of his attendance, noting that the Prime Minister participated in similar events in 2023, and on May 8, 2024, he already took part in the EAEU summit.
The intensification of bilateral contacts will continue: on April 17-18, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, will visit Russia to participate in the CIS Assembly session dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory over fascism. Negotiations are also underway regarding a visit to Armenia by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin. The opening of a Russian consulate in Gafan is planned before May.
