Islam has become the fastest-growing religion. The number of Muslims increased by 347 million people from 2010 to 2020, according to data from the Pew Research Center.

Thus, the proportion of Muslims increased by 1.8 percentage points to 25.6% over ten years.

Another dynamically growing category is people who do not identify with any faith. Their share is approaching a quarter of the Earth's population. At the same time, the number of Buddhists is decreasing, making this religion the only one with negative dynamics.

Over the past decade, the number of Christians in the world has increased by 121.6 million people, and now they number 2.3 billion. However, their share in the total population of the planet has decreased to 28.8%, which is 1.8% less than before. This is happening because Christianity is growing more slowly than the Earth's population as a whole.

It is specified that the data is based on the analysis of 2.7 thousand studies and surveys. The authors attribute the changes that have occurred over ten years mainly to the fact that Muslim countries have high birth rates, while in Christian and Buddhist regions they are declining.
