In Pakistan, 279 people died due to monsoon rains

At least 279 people died and 676 were injured in Pakistan due to monsoon rains and related incidents since the end of June.

The highest number of casualties was recorded in Punjab - 151 dead and 536 injured. In the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 64 people died and 80 were injured.

The country's authorities are taking measures aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and minimizing damage from the natural disaster. According to meteorologists' forecasts, heavy rains will continue in the coming days.

The monsoon season in South Asia, which lasts from June to September, annually leads to large-scale destruction and human casualties.
