Elon Musk became the first half-trillionaire in history

Elon Musk became the first person in history whose fortune exceeded 500 billion dollars. Back in December, he was the first to reach the 400 billion mark. Now Musk is ahead of his closest competitor in the ranking of the richest people in the world, Larry Ellison, by 150 billion dollars and, according to analysts, is halfway to becoming the world's first trillionaire.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign media, Tesla shares on Wednesday by 15:30 Eastern time rose by almost 4%, which added about 9.3 billion dollars to Musk's fortune. Investors continue to positively assess the company's strategic reorientation. Since Musk announced at the Tesla results conference in April that he was stepping down as head of Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to focus more on Tesla, the electric car manufacturer's shares have practically doubled. Now Musk's stake in the company (12%) is valued at 191 billion dollars, which became possible thanks to the return of Tesla's capitalization to a level of just 10% of the historical maximum in December.

However, Tesla is not the entrepreneur's only source of capital. The space company SpaceX, founded by Musk in 2002, is valued at 400 billion dollars according to a private tender offer in August (compared to 350 billion in December last year). Musk owns about 42% of the shares, worth approximately 168 billion dollars.

In addition, in March he created xAI Holdings, combining his artificial intelligence company xAI with the social network X (formerly Twitter). The joint value of the company is estimated at 113 billion dollars, and Musk's 53% stake is equivalent to 60 billion dollars.

According to expert forecasts, if Musk maintains his current pace, he could become history's first trillionaire by March 2033 - that's when the first part of his Tesla compensation package worth 1 trillion dollars comes into effect.
