Drunk Chinese man swallowed a spoon and for five months thought it was a dream

Doctors removed a ceramic spoon from the intestines of a Chinese man who swallowed it while drunk. This was reported by the South China Morning Post.

29-year-old Yang thought he had accidentally swallowed a piece of plastic while getting takeout food. With this assumption, he went to a hospital in Shanghai. Doctors examined the man and found a 15-centimeter ceramic spoon in his duodenum.

It turned out that in January, Yang was vacationing in Thailand. One day he returned to his hotel very drunk and took a spoon from his room to induce vomiting. He pushed it so deep that at some point it simply fell inside. After that, the man lost consciousness due to severe alcohol intoxication. The next morning, he decided that it was all a dream and walked around like that for six months without noticing anything.

The first attempt to remove the spoon was unsuccessful: the forceps could not grab it because of its slippery surface. Surgeons had to use several instruments to extract it. The operation took an hour and a half. The man was soon discharged from the hospital. He is doing fine.
