Independent candidate Catherine Connolly won the presidential election in Ireland.

As reported by RTE, this was announced by her competitor Heather Humphreys.

"Catherine will be the president of all of us. She will be my president. I would like to wish her all the very best. I have no regrets," she said.

Catherine Connolly is an Irish politician, born on July 12, 1957, in a suburb of Galway. She is a clinical psychologist and lawyer by education, previously worked as an attorney and mayor of Galway. Since 2016, she has been a member of the House of Representatives, and from 2020-2024 she held the post of Deputy Chair of the parliament.

Connolly put forward her candidacy for the presidency of Ireland, declaring her intention to promote politics based on solidarity, equality, and hope. Her candidacy was supported by the Labour Party, Social Democrats, Sinn Féin, and other opposition forces.
