A world's smelliest flower was stolen from a botanical garden in Germany

In the German city of Dortmund, unknown individuals stole a tuber of Amorphophallus titanum from the "Rombergpark" botanical garden - a plant known as the world's smelliest flower. When blooming, it emits a sharp odor resembling carrion. This was reported by Spiegel magazine.
The perpetrators dug out the tuber of the rare plant nicknamed "David" from its pot, which weighs between 20 and 30 kilograms. As Spiegel clarifies, citing the city administration, the garden management has already filed an official complaint.
"The theft of 'David' was a heavy blow for us. Many Dortmund residents were waiting for its next flowering. We hope that the thieves will repent and return the plant," said a representative of the botanical garden, noting that this loss was "a huge loss for the garden and the entire city."
