A strong earthquake struck the Philippines
An underground tremor with a magnitude of 6.4 was recorded in the waters of the Philippine Sea off the southern coast of the island of Mindanao (Philippines) on Monday.
This was reported by the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to the branch's operational processing data, the epicenter of the earthquake recorded at 13:19 Baku time was located 145 km southeast of the city of Davao on Mindanao.
Based on the intensity of tremors at the epicenter, the seismic event is assessed as "strong."
The United States Geological Survey estimated the earthquake's magnitude at 6.2. According to its data, the earthquake's focus was at a depth of 111.9 km.
On June 8, an earthquake with a magnitude estimated, by various assessments, between 7.8 and 8.1 was recorded in this area, along with a series of strong aftershocks.
