A Difficult Tea Party: What Did Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping Discuss?
Reports about the tense nature of negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the tea table have once again drawn attention to the events preceding the Russian leader's visit to Beijing.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this is stated in a video material by Baku TV.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Aide for Foreign Policy and International Affairs Yuri Ushakov had stated that during the meeting in Vladivostok, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping planned to discuss a number of international issues over tea, including the situation surrounding Ukraine, Iran, and relations with the United States of America. The meeting did indeed take place later, however, according to reports, the conversation proceeded in a rather tense atmosphere.
Another point that sparked discussions is related to Donald Trump's visit to China even before Putin's trip. According to the Financial Times, during the meeting in Beijing, Xi Jinping made it clear that the development of the Ukrainian crisis would have negative consequences for the Russian leadership in the long term.
It is claimed that the Chinese leader expressed this position during discussions related to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
