A bill for 870 thousand: restaurant visitor shocked social media
An astronomical bill from a restaurant at one of Turkey's most prestigious resorts - in Alaçatı - has sparked a heated wave of discussions on social media.
As reported by BAKU.WS, at one of the elite entertainment establishments, a client paid a bill totaling 870,150 Turkish liras (approximately 31,673 manats).
The fact that the lion's share of the amount was spent on alcoholic beverages provoked fierce debates among social media users.
Against the backdrop of a growing wave of reactions, the establishment's owner Fırat Enuştekin broke his silence and clarified the situation.
He explained such an impressive bill size by the "extremely expensive" preferences of the clients themselves.
"851,800 liras of the total bill is exclusively luxury and high-end alcoholic beverages. At that particular table, a total of 49 bottles of champagne were opened and 2 bottles of 18-year-old premium whisky were consumed. Food expenses amounted to only about 18 thousand liras. This is not related to the establishment's pricing policy, but rather to the client's personal choice in favor of lavish and ostentatious consumption," he stated.
