The non-obvious yet common cause of bleeding gums has been revealed

An unobvious but very common cause of bleeding gums can be malocclusion, said Victoria Radko, head of the orthodontic department of the prestigious European scientific and clinical center EUROKAPPA clinic. In a conversation with "Lenta.ru," she explained in detail the mechanism of how improper teeth alignment affects gum health.
According to the specialist, bite plays a fundamental role in distributing the load on periodontal tissues. "When teeth close incorrectly, the load on certain areas becomes excessive. This leads to microtraumas of the gums, their chronic irritation and, as a result, bleeding, even in the absence of inflammatory diseases," Radko explained.
"The problem may not be in hygiene, but in mechanics. Incorrect positioning of teeth interferes with normal cleaning and provokes constant pressure on soft tissues," emphasized Victoria Radko.
The expert also noted that chronic overload of the gums can aggravate the course of existing oral diseases, such as gingivitis or periodontitis, and significantly reduce the effectiveness of the treatment being carried out.
