Fast food contains ultra-processed ingredients, refined carbohydrates, excess salt, trans fats, overcooked proteins, chemical additives and oils, which is very dangerous for health, according to Australian doctor Zack Turner in his column on News.com.
However, according to the doctor, the most poisonous to the body are precisely the oils, which are most often reused and heated multiple times.
"Repeatedly heating oil can lead to the formation of oxidized lipid compounds that can irritate tissues. This causes oxidative stress, when your body produces unstable molecules that damage cells and provoke inflammation," Turner emphasizes.
The doctor notes that it is oxidative stress that causes bloating and contributes to lethargy and apathy.
He recommends giving preference to whole foods, trying to avoid processed ones, and including thermally stable oils in your diet - extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil.
"Beware of other inflammatory triggers. Sugar spikes, processed meats, refined carbohydrates, poor sleep and stress - all of these add up," advises Turner.
