The doctor named the reason for ice-cold feet in hot weather
Cold hands and feet can remain that way even in extreme heat due to the body's functioning characteristics, dehydration, or stress. This was explained by general practitioner Aigul Arslanova.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to UfaTime.ru, one of the reasons for this condition is thermoregulation. In hot weather, the body dilates blood vessels and directs more blood to the skin's surface for cooling. As a result, blood supply to the extremities may decrease, which is why the hands and feet feel cold.
According to the Russian expert, a similar effect is caused by a lack of fluids. During dehydration, the blood becomes thicker, which impairs its circulation and can lead to a sensation of coldness in the extremities.
In addition, ice-cold hands and feet are sometimes associated with stress or certain medical conditions, including thyroid disorders.
The specialist recommended monitoring fluid intake, avoiding stressful situations when possible, and consulting a doctor if the problem occurs regularly.
