People are increasingly using AI to break up with their partner – research

In the modern world, technology is penetrating deeper into everyday life. Recent research shows that artificial intelligence is beginning to play an unexpected role in personal relationships - it is increasingly being used to end romantic connections.
According to surveys, there is a growing number of people who resort to using chatbots or text generators to compose breakup messages. Some of them explain this by wanting to avoid awkwardness or emotional pain. Others admit that they feel insecure and don't know how to choose the right words, especially if they don't want to cause unnecessary pain.
Interestingly, such "goodbye letters" created with AI often appear more balanced and diplomatic than those a person would write in the heat of emotion. However, psychology experts warn: while this method may make the task easier, it can harm both participants in the relationship, especially if the partner feels they were treated "according to a template."
Some users admit that they use AI even to evaluate relationship prospects - asking it questions like "Should I break up?" or "Why don't I feel the same connection anymore?" This indicates a new digital dependency, where important emotional decisions are delegated to algorithms.
Psychologists emphasize: artificial intelligence can be a useful tool, but it cannot replace live communication and emotional responsibility. Breaking up is not just about words, but also about respecting another person's feelings.
Nevertheless, with the growing popularity of AI, we can expect such cases to become increasingly common - especially among young people who are accustomed to trusting technology even in the most intimate aspects of life.
