Named night habit that provokes stroke
Cardiologist Ehimen Aneni warned that the habit of sleeping at night with artificial lighting may increase the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
As BAKU.WS reports, he talked about this danger in a conversation with the Huffington Post.
Aneni reminded that a recent study published in the journal JAMA Network Open found that sleeping with the light on is associated with an increased likelihood of heart failure, ischemic heart disease, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, and stroke.
According to the specialist, the reason is that light during sleep disrupts circadian rhythms and reduces sleep duration. It is known that lack of sleep and sleep disruptions indeed increase the risk of cardiovascular problems. The doctor also emphasized that women are more susceptible to such disruptions caused by lighting than men. He noted that among women working night shifts, cases of heart failure are more common than among men.
