Researchers from Australia conducted a large-scale study involving more than 24 thousand people with an average age of about 62 years. All volunteers initially characterized their lifestyle as sedentary. For an objective assessment of physical activity, participants wore special accelerometers on their wrists for a week.
The results were impressive: just three minutes of moderate physical activity daily significantly reduced the likelihood of heart attack, stroke, and other dangerous cardiovascular pathologies. Interestingly, women were more likely than men to engage in spontaneous physical activity.
Specialists emphasize the importance of everyday household chores: cooking, cleaning, and gardening. These simple activities, which many do not perceive as physical exercise, can have a significant positive impact on cardiovascular health in old age.
