Irregular sleep has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to foreign press, scientists have identified a connection between disruptions in sleep patterns and an increased likelihood of developing serious cardiovascular diseases.

More than 3,200 middle-aged individuals participated in the study, and their health was monitored over a period of approximately ten years. Using wearable devices, researchers tracked how consistently participants went to bed and woke up. During this time, 128 individuals experienced severe events, including heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, and deaths related to the heart and blood vessels.

The results showed that people with irregular bedtimes had approximately twice the risk of such complications compared to those who maintained a stable schedule. This association was particularly pronounced among participants who slept less than eight hours per night. At the same time, variations in wake-up times did not demonstrate a significant impact on health.

The study authors emphasize that not only the duration of sleep plays a key role, but also its regularity. According to the specialists, the habit of going to bed at the same time each night could become a simple and effective way to reduce the likelihood of cardiovascular problems.
