Azerbaijan handed over to the Investigative Committee of Russia evidence of torture of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg

Azerbaijan handed over evidence of torture and murder of two Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg to the Investigative Committee of Russia.
As BAKU.WS reports, this was stated to Report by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev, who is on a visit to Ankara.
The Prosecutor General emphasized that the Investigative Committee of Russia is conducting a separate investigation into the facts of torture of Azerbaijani citizens in Yekaterinburg.
"We have initiated a criminal case regarding the violence against Azerbaijanis. As you know, we maintain regular contacts with the Russian side - both with the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office. The Russian side states that the victims are citizens of their country, however, I would like to remind that Azerbaijan does not recognize dual citizenship. We consider them citizens of Azerbaijan. In this regard, we conducted necessary examinations, which, unfortunately, confirmed the fact of death as a result of torture, beatings, and serious bodily injuries," said Kamran Aliyev.
The head of the department emphasized that Azerbaijan continues investigative actions on these cases and has transferred all collected evidence to the Investigative Committee of Russia. "The Russian side informed me that the Investigative Committee is conducting a separate investigation into the facts of violence. We hope that the initiated criminal case on this issue will yield results," added the Prosecutor General.
Recall that on the morning of June 27, the FSB of Russia raided the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. During the raid, two people were killed, and several others were injured. The killed Azerbaijanis were brothers of the well-known journalist Seyfaddin Huseynli. They were buried on July 1 in Aghjabadi.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has repeatedly issued statements demanding the Russian side to conduct a transparent investigation and bring to justice those responsible for this unacceptable act of violence. In connection with this incident, the Chargé d'Affaires of Russia, as well as the Russian Ambassador to Baku, were summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and a strong protest was expressed to them regarding the incident.
In addition, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case under seven articles, including murder committed with particular cruelty or in a generally dangerous manner; murder of two or more persons; abuse of official powers resulting in serious consequences, and others. The preliminary investigation was entrusted to the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan. Additionally, an investigative group has been created, and active investigative actions are being conducted.
