A serious shortage of medicines has been discovered in state hospitals

In 2023-2024, the majority of surgical operations funded by the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund were performed not by state institutions, but by private medical facilities.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to apa, this information is contained in the results of an audit conducted by the Chamber of Accounts. According to the obtained data, more than 90% of operations costing 5,000 manats and above were performed in the private sector. This fact clearly demonstrates the weak personnel and technical potential of state medical institutions, as well as their inability to effectively use available financial resources.
The audit also revealed serious deficiencies in the system of providing medicines and medical consumables. Some of the medications purchased under state programs were planned in insufficient quantities, while others were not delivered on time as intended. As a result, these medicines and medical supplies were not provided to those in need during the year, which significantly limited the availability of medical services for the population.
It is noted that in some cases, double accounting of medicines and medical consumables in tariffs, as well as purchases at prices exceeding import costs, led to inefficient expenditures and price discrepancies.
