Mukhtar Babayev: By 2050, the number of city residents will increase by 2.5 billion people
WUF13 demonstrates Azerbaijan's priorities in the field of sustainable urbanization, environmental responsibility, and climate change resilience.
As reported by Oxu.Az, this was stated by the Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on climate issues Mukhtar Babayev in a video address at the event "Developing Azerbaijan's First National Sustainability Standard: Sustainability Practices Standard (SPS)", held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
"Hosting COP29 in Baku has strengthened Azerbaijan's role in the global climate agenda and international cooperation. The development of sustainability standards will help create resilient infrastructure, ensure efficient use of resources, and promote greener urban planning," noted Mukhtar Babayev.
He also emphasized that, according to the UN, by 2050 the urban population will increase by 2.5 billion people, with approximately 90% of the population growth occurring in Asian and African countries.
