Media: Russia actively participated in blocking Azerbaijan's membership in SCO
New details have emerged about the circumstances of blocking Azerbaijan's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
According to information received by APA from diplomatic sources, the blocking of our country's membership in the SCO was not initiated by India alone. It is noted that Russia also actively participated in this process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation played a key role in this process.
According to the source, the issue of blocking Azerbaijan's membership in the SCO was discussed during political consultations between Russia and India, and the parties reached a corresponding agreement. However, Russia brought India to the forefront while remaining in the shadows.
There is an opinion that such a step by Russia is regarded as a show of disrespect towards China. After all, Beijing, in accordance with the "Shanghai spirit," advocates for the expansion of the organization and supported Azerbaijan's membership. Nevertheless, at the recent summit in China, Russia and India, by blocking Azerbaijan's membership, also showed disrespect to China.
