Armenia must exist within its internationally recognized borders, rather than relying on historical interpretations that do not correspond to reality.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev at the special session "The Language of Peace and Combating Disinformation," organized within the framework of the Baku Dialogue Platform on Culture and Media.

Hajiyev noted that Baku and Yerevan have agreed on a peace agenda. At the same time, recent statements by the Armenian side have shown that the approaches of the two countries may differ.

"We remain concerned about manifestations of revanchism in Armenian society. We also see that the current leadership of Armenia is promoting the concept of 'Real Armenia.' We take note of this and believe that Armenia must exist within its internationally recognized borders, rather than base itself on certain historical interpretations that do not correspond to reality," he said.

According to Hajiyev, Azerbaijan expects that there will be people in Armenian society who will offer an apology to the Azerbaijani people.

"The initial agreements on peace have already been reached. However, I am convinced that every Azerbaijani, especially those who were expelled from their land, lived as refugees or internally displaced persons for 30 years, and were subjected to ethnic cleansing, expects an apology from the Armenian side. Undoubtedly, this should become part of a broader process of confidence-building and peacebuilding between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Hajiyev added.
