Armenia's Minister of Internal Affairs on the detention of the Azerbaijani soldier: It was impossible to get there any faster
In the case of the detention of an Azerbaijani soldier in Sheki, the female citizen called the police officer whose mobile phone number she had and whom she knew. This police officer was resting, as he had been on duty the day before, meaning he had been at his workplace.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Armenian media, this was stated by Armenia's Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan in a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly on October 26, regarding the details of the incident in Sheki and discussions about the police officer arriving at the scene later than the complainant herself after receiving the call.
"She did not simply call the police system, but a police officer she knew, who had been on duty the day before, and it is normal that the day after his shift he was supposed to rest.
I do not want to clarify anything down to the exact minute, since the body conducting the proceedings will make a statement at the appropriate time, indicating the specific minute, but already within 10 minutes of the call, the police officer was at the scene, and the incident had already occurred.
Our officer acted correctly; it was impossible to arrive faster and prevent anything," Sargsyan stated, adding that the police officer was located much farther from the scene than the citizen who called, Ani Avetisyan.
"The police officer who was off duty lived significantly farther from the Sisian department, meaning that when he left home, arriving in less than 10 minutes meant super-efficient work for them; when he arrived, the incident had already taken place.
He also advised her to call the 112 service so that forces would arrive and help. When a report is received at 112, according to our standard, the rapid response team must deploy within 10 minutes, meaning a dispatch to the scene must be carried out, and within 10 minutes the entire department was at the scene, led by its chief.
Moreover, it was precisely the result of the police officer's operational work that we got on the trail of this person and were able to locate and detain him," the minister said, adding that at present there are no new circumstances in the case, and when the investigative actions are completed, the public will be informed.
As a reminder, on October 1 at 14:15 local time (which coincides with Baku time — ed.), Azerbaijani soldier Nasimi Musayev was detained by Armenia's security agencies.
The serviceman, who had crossed the border under unknown circumstances in the area toward the village of Sheki (Zangezur), was arrested for 2 months.
