President of Azerbaijan received the UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations

On October 26, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, and UN Special Envoy for the fight against Islamophobia Miguel Ángel Moratinos.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Miguel Ángel Moratinos congratulated on the organization of the next Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Azerbaijan. The guest emphasized that this Forum has become an important platform for promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue at the international level.

Highly appreciating the support provided by Azerbaijan to the activities of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos noted that our country plays a significant role in promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue on an international scale.

He also welcomed Azerbaijan's active stance in the field of combating Islamophobia and the regular holding of international conferences on this topic in our country, emphasizing that the UN Alliance of Civilizations supports Azerbaijan's efforts in this direction.

Miguel Ángel Moratinos expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's voluntary financial contributions to the UN Alliance of Civilizations.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan and the UN Alliance of Civilizations are linked by many years of successful cooperation. He said that our country would continue to support the activities of the Alliance.

The head of our state emphasized the importance of the Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in Azerbaijan in terms of discussing pressing issues of concern to the international community and promoting mutual understanding.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN Alliance of Civilizations.
