The congratulatory message of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of Azerbaijan's Independence Restoration Day has generated widespread resonance in the Turkish press. A number of prominent journalists emphasized in their publications the importance of historical and strategic ties between the two countries.

This was reported in a segment by Haber Global TV channel.

On October 18, Erdoğan, in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence, conveyed greetings to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people, emphasizing that Turkey and Azerbaijan are always united - both in sorrow and in joy.

Yahya Bostan: Azerbaijan's security is a red line

Haber Global journalist and commentator Yahya Bostan, who published an article in the Yeni Şafak newspaper, noted that Azerbaijan's security holds a special place in Turkey's foreign policy.

"Turkey and Azerbaijan are two halves of one apple. We share a common language, religion, and culture. We are equally sensitive to fundamental national issues. Turkey has made Azerbaijan's security a red line of its foreign policy. Baku has also stood by Ankara in its difficult days," Bostan wrote.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan serves as a gateway to Central Asia, and the two countries act as allies maintaining strong trade ties, especially in the energy sector.

Ahmet Hakan: This message will extinguish discord

Journalist Ahmet Hakan characterized Erdoğan's statement as a message aimed at strengthening Turkish-Azerbaijani relations.

"President Erdoğan's message is not an ordinary address. It is a message that will extinguish discord and strengthen brotherhood. It will disappoint those who are waiting for the two countries to quarrel. Long live Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood!" Hakan stated.

Melih Altınok: Artificial disputes must not be allowed

In turn, Sabah newspaper columnist Melih Altınok criticized attempts to create an impression on social media that a crisis had emerged between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

He noted that despite strong historical and strategic ties, both countries are independent states, and their internal affairs fall exclusively within their own competence. "Further prolonging this artificial dispute does not serve the interests of either country," Altınok emphasized.

The article states that Turkey and Azerbaijan continue to develop relations based on the strategic partnership that has been formed over many years and their commitment to a shared destiny.
