On October 20, Azerbaijan celebrates a significant date - Zangilan City Day.

This holiday was established by a decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 31, 2023, in honor of the liberation of Zangilan from Armenian occupation.

Exactly six years ago, on October 20, 2020, the valiant Azerbaijani army liberated not only the city but also the villages of Havaly, Mamadbayly, Sharifan, Muganly, and the settlement of Hakari in the Zangilan district.

The glorious flag of Azerbaijan was raised over the liberated territories.

During the years of occupation, Zangilan suffered large-scale destruction. However, today the Master Plan of the city has already been approved. President Ilham Aliyev stated that the first residents will be able to return to Zangilan in 2025, and possibly even earlier.
