Bayramov: Baku expects a comprehensive investigation from Iran into the incident involving a UAV strike on Nakhchivan
Azerbaijan hopes that Iran will fulfill its assurances of a comprehensive investigation into the UAV strike incident on Nakhchivan and will take the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, this was stated by the head of Azerbaijani diplomacy Jeyhun Bayramov at the consultative meeting of foreign ministers in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
Bayramov reminded the meeting participants that on March 5, drones flying from the territory of Iran struck the infrastructure of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. As a result, four civilians were injured and significant damage was caused to critical infrastructure, including Nakhchivan International Airport.
The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan responded promptly and decisively to the incident, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of its citizens by all legitimate means.
"Azerbaijan expects that the assurances provided by the Iranian side regarding a comprehensive investigation of the incident will be fulfilled and that the necessary measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future," the minister added.
