What prospects do the changes in the law on the subsistence minimum open up?

The Committee of the Milli Mejlis on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship approved and recommended for the plenary session a draft of amendments to the law "On the Subsistence Minimum."
This was reported by deputy Vugar Bayramov on his social media page.
According to the parliamentarian, the key innovation will be the approval of nutrition standards for persons in social institutions, in addition to the existing standards for medical and educational institutions.
"The current legislation does not provide for the approval of standards for social institutions, which institutionally did not allow them to fully utilize this opportunity. The new changes will eliminate this gap.
At the same time, it is expected that the new composition of the minimum consumer basket, which was last approved 11 years ago, will be defined and approved this year. This is being implemented in accordance with the requirements of Article 3.2 of the mentioned law.
Determining the new composition of the minimum consumer basket will allow for accounting for expenses that have arisen since the last approval, and will also create opportunities for further increasing the subsistence minimum, which currently stands at 285 manats. This is especially important from the perspective of strengthening social protection for our citizens who are most in need of social support," the parliamentarian explained.
