Azerbaijan has begun purchasing gold from Sweden for the first time

In January-May of this year, Azerbaijan imported 30,875 kg of gold (gold in other semi-processed forms: bars, wire and profiles, plates, sheets, strips or ribbons with a thickness of more than 0.15 mm, excluding the base) from 23 countries, worth 2 billion 940.2 million dollars.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, according to the State Statistics Committee, this is 5 times more in value terms and 4 times more in quantitative terms compared to the indicators for the same period in 2024.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 4,753 kg of gold from Russia worth 439.3 million dollars (there were no deliveries a year ago), from Australia - 3,995 kg worth 354.7 million dollars (20% less than a year ago) (-33%), from the United States of America - 3,345 kg worth 340.3 million dollars (there were no deliveries a year ago), from Kazakhstan - 2,557 kg worth 262.2 million dollars (there were no deliveries a year ago), from Great Britain - 2,771 kg worth 256.7 million dollars (there were no deliveries a year ago).

This year, for the first time in the last 14 years for which official foreign trade statistics are available, gold was delivered from Sweden (38.2 kg worth 4.1 million dollars).

During the first 5 months of this year, Azerbaijan sold gold only to Switzerland. 1,751 kg of gold worth 121.3 million dollars was supplied to this country, which is 46% and 2.7 times more respectively than a year ago.
