White House: Russia and Ukraine have never been closer to peace than now

The parties to the negotiations on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict have never been as close to peace as they are now.

This was stated by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt at a regular briefing for journalists.

"We have never been as close to a peace deal as we are now. And the president (Donald Trump - ed.), as you know, is determined to achieve this goal," she noted.

Leavitt added that military operations in Ukraine began because of the previous US administration.

Recall that the large-scale war between Russia and Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
